CQUIN Welcomes Amos Mulbah, Liberia’s New National DSD Coordinator

Oct 31, 2022

Liberia’s Ministry of Health has a new national DSD coordinator who is eager to scale up differentiated service delivery (DSD) programs in the country. Amos Mulbah, BS, joins CQUIN’s vibrant network of DSD coordinators and technical advisors with over a decade of experience working with the Liberia National AIDS and STI Control Program (NASCP).

Mulbah started his career with the NASCP in 2011 as an HIV clinical mentor, coaching and training county clinicians in Lofa county. In this role, he also worked with the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) team to monitor and validate data on HIV services. In addition, he has experience with supply chain management for HIV programs and identifying and establishing new facility sites for HIV service provision. Mulbah has held various positions at the NASCP, from county and provincial to national levels in Liberia, including coordinating the country’s national viral load program.

One of his most notable successes was supporting one of Liberia’s biggest referral hospitals, the Redemption Hospital, to merge maternal and child health services with antiretroviral treatment services to provide one-stop health services for mothers living with HIV and their children.

Mulbah hopes this new role will help him foster and extend Liberia’s DSD program.

“My goal as DSD coordinator is to involve all stakeholders and implementing partners in scaling up DSD services.”

Liberia joined the CQUIN network in September 2019 and has actively participated in network activities to enhance and diversify its DSD models, especially for key and priority populations. “Liberia has shown a lot of enthusiasm and innovation for implementing DSD programs,” said Peter Preko, MBChB, MPH, CQUIN project director. “We are happy to give Mulbah and the Ministry of Health the necessary support to move Liberia to the next phase of DSD scale-up.”

“Liberia has benefitted a lot from participating in CQUIN. Through CQUIN, we have created DSD guidelines and expanded our DSD model mix. We have also adopted the community distribution of antiretroviral therapy in our national guidelines, and we hope to do a lot more through our engagement with the network,” added Mulbah.

Mulbah takes over from Samretta Caldwell, who served as Liberia’s DSD coordinator from September 2019 to September 2022.
